What are the differences betweeen Instax 7s, 8, 25, 50s and 210?
(Left :Instax 210 Middle :Instax 7s Right: Instax 50s)
Instax is a brand of instant still cameras and films marketed by Fujifilm since the late 1990s. There are two types of Instax film and cameras.
- MINI Cameras: Mini 7s, Mini 8, Mini 25 and Mini 50s (uses MINI films)
- WIDE Cameras: Instax 210, Wide 300 (uses WIDE films)
If you are deciding on which camera to buy, we STRONGLY ADVISE you to make your decision based on which type of picture you like the best.
If you decided to choose Wide films, then your choice is obviously Instax 210! BUT, if you decided to go with Mini films, you need to make a choice out of four available options which are Instax 7s, 8, 25 or 50s. Aside from the difference in wide/mini film, the quality for all cameras are similar, no noticeable difference at all.<
Here is a short summary of the differences between these MINI Cameras:
Mini 7s
- Manual (you will need to decide on which mode to use)
- 4 Modes of Aperture(Indoor/dark, Cloudy/shady, Fine, Clear)
- Bulky and heavy
- Uses 4 AA batteries

Mini 8
- Automatic (There is a light showing you which suitable mode to use. After that, you need to turn the lens according to the mode suggested OR you can just decide on your own)
- 5 Modes of Aperture(Indoor/Night, Cloudy/Shade, Sunny/Slightly cloudy, Sunny and Bright, High-key)
- Slimmer and lighter than Mini 7s
- Uses 2 AA batteries
* High-key mode make images look brighter and more vibrant. Use this mode if you want brighter photo. The automatic brightness / mode indicator (light) will never force you to use a specific mode. It only recommends the optimal mode between the other 4 modes.

All features of the Mini 25 are available on Instax 50s. The only exception is that Instax 50s doesn't has a self mirror. Additional features on Instax 50s include:
- Self timer
- Can be mounted on a tripod and take two pictures consecutively

The lighten/darken feature is available on INSTAX 25, Instax 50s and Instax 210 only. It has three exposure control (light setting): L light, N neutral, and D dark. It also comes with an automatic Flash, a close up lens and self mirror. It uses 4 AA batteries.
For the best experience, we will recommend Instax 210. However, please take note that the camera is as big as DSLR Camera (Digital single-lens reflex). As such you might end up using it occasionally for special event only. Another important consideration is that wide film is more expensive than mini film. If you are confused, I suggest that you buy both!
If you are going for a camera which is affordable and has great features, we recommend you Instax 25. However, if you like the added feature on Instax 50s or simply love the elegant/shiny black design, Instax 50s will be a better choice!,
If you have a limited budget, Instax 7s is one of them. If you have more budget, why not go for the camera with more features? It will be the Instax 8 which is a upgraded version of 7s.
Here are some pictures taken using Instax 7s:
Vertical and Horizontal Pictures
All Instax cameras can only take these two types of picture. Just like any other digital camera, or your phone, you can simply rotate the camera.
